Bob Ong's horror story
Bob Ong returns to his generation-defining novel roots with a new book called Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan. It tells the story about a 16-year old college kid who deals with teenage angst and his eerily spooky grandmother. Only on his 8th book did Bob try write the creeps; Mama Susan is his first foray into writing suspense horror. If you planned to read more in 2011, this is an awesome start.

Quiapo's frenzy
The Feast of the Black Nazarene will take place Sunday, January 9, which means a weekend in Quiapo will once again comprise of pious devotees, vendors, and your typical vendors, all creating a massive wave of bumps coming at you should you decide to participate this weekend. But here’s one good reason why you should check it out anyway: the Black Nazarene is a beautiful sight to behold, having survived fires and earthquakes since its inception in 1606.
